Awards are exciting. They're validating. They're humbling.

But if we're honest, they also raise a fair question:

"What does this actually mean for me?"

Recently, Ink was honored to be named Small Business of the Year at the Small Business Impact Awards, presented by the Little Rock Regional Chamber in partnership with the Arkansas Small Business Technology Development Center (ASBTDC). The award recognizes small businesses that demonstrate excellence in business performance, leadership, community involvement, and overall impact.

We're incredibly grateful for the recognition. But more than anything, we see it as a reminder of what nearly 40 years in business has taught us.

We certainly haven't gotten everything right. Like any growing company, we've learned through trial and error, hard conversations, changing markets, and thousands of customer projects. Every challenge has shaped who we are today.

Along the way, though, one lesson kept proving itself true:

If we can love people well, that love has a way of showing up in the final product.

It sounds simple, but we've seen it play out time and time again. The way you treat people influences everything that comes after—communication, creativity, craftsmanship, trust, and ultimately the experience someone has when they receive what you've created together.

It's Never Really Been About the Merchandise

Yes, we decorate apparel.

Yes, we source promotional products.

Yes, we build company stores, manage fulfillment, and help organizations bring ideas to life.

But we've learned that what customers value most isn't simply the product they receive.

It's having a team that listens before recommending.

A designer who helps transform a rough idea into something memorable.

An account manager who catches a detail before it becomes a problem.

A production team that treats every order like it matters.

The merchandise is important. But the experience of creating it together matters just as much.

People Over Profit Isn't Always the Easy Choice

Some of the most meaningful lessons we've learned over the years haven't come from our biggest successes. They've come from asking ourselves what kind of company we wanted to become.

We've learned that prioritizing people isn't always the fastest or easiest path.

Sometimes it means spending extra time asking questions before recommending a product.

Sometimes it means recommending a less expensive option because it's genuinely the better fit.

Sometimes it means starting over because "good enough" doesn't feel good enough.

Sometimes it simply means showing up, listening well, and treating someone else's project like it matters as much to us as it does to them.

Those choices don't always maximize efficiency.

But they build something far more valuable: trust.

Every Project Begins with Someone Else's Story

When someone comes to Ink, they're rarely just ordering shirts or promotional products.

They're welcoming new employees.

Launching a business.

Hosting a fundraiser.

Celebrating a milestone.

Equipping a summer camp.

Building company culture.

Creating an experience they hope people will remember.

Those aren't just orders.

They're stories.

Our privilege is getting to help bring those stories to life.

We often say that we started out printing shirts. Somewhere along the way, we realized we were really helping print stories. Every project begins with someone else's vision, and we're grateful every time we're invited to be a small part of it.

This Award Belongs to Our Team — and Our Customers

While a few of us had the honor of accepting this award, it represents far more than the people who stood on stage.

It belongs to every member of our team who serves customers with excellence every day — from creative services and customer experience to production, fulfillment, shipping, and every role in between.

And it belongs, in many ways, to our customers.

Thank you for trusting us with your brands., your organizations, your events, and your ideas. Thank you for giving us the opportunity to create alongside you.

Receiving Small Business of the Year isn't proof that we've figured everything out. If anything, it's encouragement that we're moving in the right direction.

After nearly 40 years, we're still learning. We're still improving. We're still finding better ways to serve our customers and one another.

But if there's one thing we hope never changes, it's this:

We'll keep doing our best to love people well.

Because we've learned that when you do, that love has a way of showing up in the final product.

And if this award recognizes anything, we hope it's that commitment.
